Precautions
The National Cherry Festival arrives, gracing our streets with bursts of colour, sounds of music and the taste of fresh local produce. Young is not just any town – it’s The Cherry Capital of Australia, a title we wear with immense pride for our town and it’s history.
Mark your calendars for the first weekend of December, a time when our landscape is painted in the glow of red and green, as the cherry orchards reach their peak. The town comes alive in celebration that springs from the history we share with this delicious ruby-red fruit. For over a century and a half, the cherry trees have been intertwined with our story, a part of our history for as long as we can remember.
As the festival unfolds, our town transforms into a lively display of culture and community. We open our arms to welcome kindred spirits from every corner of Australia and the world beyond. The air is filled with laughter, the scent of cherry pies baking, and the joyous chatter of folks sharing stories and experiences. Our streets hum with excitement, as visitors and locals explore the bustling markets and enjoy the freshest cherries picked straight from the tress.
But the National Cherry Festival is more than just a celebration of cherries; it’s a celebration of our farming history and of our community – the resilient souls who call Young home. It’s a testament to our unity, our spirit, and our unbreakable bond. As we share in the festivities we are reminded of the connection we share with each other and with the land we live on.
